San Diego Air Commerce Center
M+M was hired to manage media relations for the group that was attempting to transform Brown Field into a regional air cargo hub.

Objectives:
· Gain favorable editorials in all major publications
· Place op/eds in all major publications
· Develop on-going relationship with journalists
· Counter anti-development factions in broadcast media coverage

Actions:
· Conducted two Editorial Board meetings with The San Diego Union-Tribune
· Conducted media tours of Brown Field
· Wrote and placed more than 10 op/eds
· Staged news conferences to announce progress
· Developed a Job Center to highlight the jobs the project would produce
· Developed an informational video for outreach activities
· Placed radio and cable television advertising
· Conducted field polls to show support of project outside of South Bay

Results:
· The Union Tribune wrote six editorials in support of the project, despite widespread community opposition
· The San Diego Business Journal praised the project in an editorial
· The San Diego Daily Transcript, in one of its first editorial endorsements, supported the project
· Neil Morgan wrote several columns advocating the need for a cargo facility at Brown Field
· Cultivated support from community leaders to support earned media campaign
· Balanced television coverage was achieved despite community opposition
